Vanilla Orange Smoothie

If you’re looking for a refreshing summer pick-me-up or a recovery drink after a tough workout, this quick and easy smoothie recipe will do the trick. It makes a healthy snack or breakfast full of real food nutrition. The coconut palm sugar is full of vitamins and minerals and is low on the glycemic index, but honey or liquid stevia can also be used. Blend it up and enjoy! Yum.

Vanilla Orange Smoothie

Yield: 1 serving

Total time: 5 minutesVanilla Orange Smoothie

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fresh-squeezed orange juice or 1 orange

1/2 cup almond milk (or other milk of choice)

1 cup ice

2 tablespoons coconut palm sugar (or honey or about 10 drops stevia)

1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

Note: If you’d like to add some protein to this smoothie or are using it as a recovery drink after a hard workout, add 1 scoop of vanilla protein (like a high quality whey protein or I like Vega’s Vanilla Almondilla vegan protein), or if you tolerate dairy add 1/4 cup plain or Greek yogurt.
