Drinking enough water is essential to having a lot of energy, a sharp mind, losing weight, and naturally detoxifying the body. As a Fort Collins Nutritionist, many of my readers and clients have trouble drinking enough water. First, how much is “enough water”? Dividing your body weight by two and drinking that number of ounces of fluids per day is a great start. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, 150/2 = 75 ounces.
If you have trouble drinking enough water, try jazzing it up! This Lemon Cucumber Spa Water recipe is super simple and is one of my favorite ways to increase my fluid intake. Why? When things taste good, you naturally want more of them! Also, the tartness from the lemon stimulates thirst which will make you want to drink more. Keep in mind that fresh vegetables and fruits and filled with water too, so the more water-filled foods you eat, the less water you actually need to drink!
Lemon Cucumber Spa Water
Yield: 1 serving
Ingredients:
12 ounces pure water
3 slices lemon
3 slices cucumber, peeled
Directions:
1. Combined water, lemon, and cucumber in a cup.
2. Drink water. Refill cup with water up to 6 times.
Note: Try adding fresh ginger, mint leaves, parsley, or basil to this recipe to change it up.
Another Note: If you’d like to make a bigger batch of Lemon Cucumber Spa Water, make it in a pitcher using slices from 1/2 cucumber and 1 lemon. Chill in the fridge until ready to drink. This will also allow flavors to combine. Water can be stored in the fridge with lemon and cucumber slices for up to 2 days.
I love your recipe and I will try it definitely tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
It looks really good! Will try soon!
